    Tour Description:

This tour is the ultimate way for cruise ship passengers arriving at the Port of Invergordon to explore the local area, visiting top sights including Loch Ness, Culloden Battlefield, Clava Cairns, Brodie Castle and Inverness. In 2017 we are offering scheduled departures from the Caribbean Princess, Celebrity Silhouette, MS Zuiderdam, MS Konigsdam, Disney Magic and Norwegian Jade. Read on to find out more about the tour itinerary!

Regular Tour from Invergordon Cruise PortOur tour starts in the historic town of Invergordon and journeys along the shores of the Cromarty Firth, where we often spot wildlife, including seals, oyster catchers and herons. The firth also boasts a fascinating naval history and you’ll find out why the US Navy used the local distillery as their HQ during the First World War!

At Brodie Castle we are treated to an exclusive private tour before the castle opens to the public in the morning. An expert guide will captivate you with details of the Brodie Clan’s legacy; fascinating history, impressive architectural and decorative styles, and a plethora of art and antiques. Regular Tour from Invergordon Cruise PortEntrance to Brodie Castle in included in the tour price and we will spend approximately one hour there. *On the Celebrity Silhouette tour the castle may be open to the public

Clava Cairns is an exceptionally well-preserved group of prehistoric burial cairns which were built around 4000 years ago. This Bronze Age cemetery has a whole range of interesting historical structures to explore such as passage graves, ring cairns, a kerb cairn, and standing stones. Entrance to Clava Cairns is free of charge and we will spend approximately 25 minutes there.

Regular Tour from Invergordon Cruise PortThe Battle of Culloden was the last pitched battle fought on British soil. We provide a guided tour of the battlefield and afterwards we pick-up lunch ‘to go’ from the cafe. The battlefield tour takes approximately 30 minutes, it is included in the price and lunch is complimentary.

Our tour then heads for hills for Beautiful Highland Scenery. We travel up into an area not often frequented by other travellers. As we head higher the landscape changes from sheep farms, to forests, to beautiful mountain moorland. Your guide will tell you all about this wonderful landscape and the flora and fauna that thrive here. **On some dates we shall take an alternative (but still scenic) route due to a shorter docking time – dates tbc for 2018.

Regular Tour from Invergordon Cruise PortOur entrance to Loch Ness is as grand as they come. We catch our first spectacular glimpse of this 23 mile long body of water from above, before heading to the village of Dores on the lesser-visited south side of Loch Ness. It’s an amazing place to take photos, go monster-spotting or, if you’d prefer, relax with a beer, whisky, coffee or soft drink in a traditional loch-side pub. There is usually an opportunity to buy a monster souvenir from legendary Nessie Hunter Steve Feltham (that’s if he’s not out hunting Nessie at the time!). We will spend approximately 30 minutes at Loch Ness.

In Inverness you will have the opportunity to get out of the coach and photograph three of the most beautiful sights in this historic city; Regular Tour from Invergordon Cruise Portthe castle, the cathedral and the iconic River Ness, all of which are just a short walk from the coach. As you drive through Inverness your guide will captivate you with the city’s fascinating history. We will spend around 20 minutes in Inverness.

After a great day exploring the Highlands we take a scenic drive back to Invergordon, travelling through the Black Isle, where there is always a good chance of seeing Red Kite (a beautiful bird of prey). We pass through the villages of Evanton and Alness before arriving back in the port of Invergordon.
