Scotland Food and Drink Tour
Scotland is renowned for its wonderful produce, its unspoiled scenery and food producers that are as enthusiastic as they are creative. Our new Foodie’s tour of Scotland lets you experience some of the best of our land of Food and Drink.

Day 1
Check in at Rabbie’s Café at No 6 Waterloo Place. Leaving the city you head towards Stirling and on towards Callander where you visit Mid Torrie Farm. Hilary and Bernard specialise in breeding high quality Highland Cattle  and are delighted to welcome visitors to their farm. Scotland Food and Drink TourYou can tour the farm and get close up and personal with their livestock. You will also learn about the unique landforms, geology, soil and climate of the area, in addition to land use, biodiversity and the farming systems of the area.

From here you head towards the west of Scotland stopping for lunch at the renowned Loch Fyne Restaurant & Oyster Bar, an iconic establishment which started life as a small Oyster and Farm Shop in a shed in the lay-by at the head of Loch Fyne. Lunch here is not included in the package.

Following lunch you travel through Kilmartin Glen, the heart of the ancient Kingdom of Dalriada. There are more than 350 prehistoric monuments within a six-mile radius of the village of Kilmartin. You will stop here to see the mysterious stone circles and standing stones and will have the opportunity to visit the community museum. The museum is a fairly-traded establishment who use local produce down to the herbs and flowers in the museum garden. The ideal place to relax over afternoon coffee and home-made cake!

Overnight at Loch Melfort Hotel, where you spend 2 nights exploring the food and produce of Argyll’s West Coast. On arrival at Loch Melfort Hotel savour the stunning view Scotland Food and Drink Tourbefore sitting down to a seafood spectacular from the daily catch including such delights as lobster, crab, and langoustine landed at Arduiane Point behind the hotel by local fishermen Daniel and Calum.

Day 2
You start today by meeting the head chef to learn about the local food used in the 4 course gourmet menu for that night, which may include foraging for wild garlic, sea weed or visiting the local organic vegetable croft.

Later you continue on to Oban the jewel in Scotland’s west coast and the seafood capital of Scotland. Stopping for lunch in Oban, you can try the Oban Seafood Hut at the harbour or Eeusk, both excellent restaurants. You can pay a visit to the Oban Chocolate Company where you can see the team creating chocolate delights entirely by hand. Later that afternoon return to the hotel. Arduaine Gardens is located by the hotel and invites you on a stroll before tonight’s 4 course gourmet dinner.

Day 3
On leaving the hotel you first cross the ‘Bridge over the Atlanic’ at Innish – a great photo opportunity.

Scotland Food and Drink TourFrom here we continue to Fort William. Lunch today will be at the Station Road Restaurant in Fort Augustus. Expect an “off the wall” food experience in this 3 Rosette Restaurant led by chef Sean Kelly. A special 3 course menu has been devised for our specialist group.

From here you continue past Loch Ness (possible stop in Drumnadrochit to try some Loch Ness Ales) and head to Ardersier Cheese at Connage Pantry. You will be able to see the production room, where you may be lucky enough to see the cheese making process.

Overnight tonight is in a very central hotel in Inverness, which allows exploring the town easily on foot.

Day 4
You leave the capital of the Highlands this morning and head into the Cairngorm National Park. At Aviemore you visit the Cairngorm Brewing Company, a craft brewery established in 2001. The company is keen to keep traditional Scotland Food and Drink Tourrecipes alive as well as brewing new and interesting styles. Explore these during your tour and tasting.

You continue on to House of Bruar where you can find a range of Scotland speciality foods under one roof. The food hall is a true Mecca for the gourmet, featuring the very best of British and Scottish produce, from meats and pies to chutney and pickles to Scottish liqueurs and whisky.

If shopping is not your thing you can make the short walk to the scenic Bruar Falls. Your lunch today will be at East Haugh House by Pitlochry, a beautiful small country house hotel famed for its excellent food and in particular, when in season, game from the local area often shot by the chef himself. Our theme today will be game, venison, lamb and after the meal the chef will come out to speak more about local produce and provenance.

The afternoon allows for a walk in Dunkeld by the river, exploring Dunkeld Cathedral before returning back to Edinburgh.
