A charming day tour with plenty of free time to enjoy and explore the ancient town of St. Andrews, Scotland's home of golf, as well as the surrounding fishing villages of the 'Kingdom of Fife'.
We leave Edinburgh, crossing the iconic Forth Bridge into the 'Kingdom of Fife'. We enjoy a photo stop at Aberdour before continuing into the East Neuk of Fife. We stop in the town of Anstruther, home of the Scottish Fisheries Museum, then we travel through the villages of Pittenweem, Crail and St. Monans, once thriving fishing centres which were made prosperous by trade within the continent.
We move on to the beautiful medieval town of St. Andrews, home to the oldest university in Scotland, and celebrated home of golf, with the renowned Old Course golf course right on the beach, and famous University and Cathedral. Enjoy approximately three hours of free time to explore the town, its medieval buildings and wonderful cobbled streets in the centre, and have lunch.
Heading homewards we travel across the Lomond hills, descending to Loch Leven (scene of Mary Queen of Scots imprisonment and escape) and on to the pretty little town of South Queensferry for a relaxing late-afternoon walk, before we return to Edinburgh.
Tour Highlights: Aberdour, Anstruther, Pittenweem, Crail, St. Monans, St. Andrews, Loch Leven, South Queensferry, Forth Road & Rail Bridges.
Enjoy up to 3 hours free time in St. Andrews.
