Tour Description

Go Scotland Tours are offering this rare opportunity for a private tour to the Isles of Skye and St Kilda. Take in the beauty of the Highland landscape on the way to the Isle of Skye. After a day of exploring theMisty Isle we go to archipelago islands of St Kilda, the remotest part of the British Isles. The island offers an exceptional geological landscapes with cliffs and sea stacks. They are most important breeding station for Seabirds in north-west Europe. Walk through the old houses of a community the survived until the 1930s. This tour has limited availability.

Below is a suggested itinerary for a 4 day tour...

Day 1: Driving past the mighty Stirling Castle we make our way to the spectacular highland landscapes of Rannoch Moor and Glencoe. This picture postcard scenery has been used in many films such as Harry Potter, James Bond and Outlander. We break for lunch in the highland town of Fort William then make our way west to Glenfinnan. This railway viaduct was the scene for Hogwarts in Harry Potter. Then a short ferry from Mallaig to reach the Isle of Skye. Here you have the option to visit Armadale Castle and the Clan Donald Centre. Overnight on the island where available.

Day 2: A full day dedicated to exploring the Isle of Skye. This is a customizable tour and can be tailor made to how you feel on the day but we do have a recommended itinerary. Discover the rugged landscapes of Northern Skye including the Quiraing, Kilt Rock and Old Man of Storr. Then a visit to Dunvegan Castle, home to the Clan Macleod for more than 800 years. Optionally we can offer a visit to Talisker Distillery, Fairy Glen or the Fairy Pools

Day 3: Today is the day we have all been looking forward to. A rare opportunity to visit the island of St Kilda. It will be a long day and very early start. The boat leaves from Uig at 7am and returns 8.30pm (times vary). The fast and comfortable boat will take you across the Minch and through the Western Isles, arriving at St Kilda after 85 miles and around 4 hours later (3 hours 30 mins on good days).

On arrival in Village Bay, we will make the short transfer by Zodiac dinghy to the main St Kilda island of Hirta. We will have approximately 4 hours free to explore the Island. The St Kilda museum, school and Church provide a fascinating insight into the way of life of the St Kildans prior to their evacuation in 1930. The remains of the village, the graves and 2nd World War gun are all open to view. This is available as part of a regular excursion by Go to St Kilda or we can arrange a private charter (this will depend on group size, availability and budget).

Day 3: In the morning drive over the Skye Bridge to Eilean Donan Castle. Here we have a great photo opportunity. Next we stop at Loch Ness with an opportunity to buy some Nessie souvenirs. After we continue the drive south to the Victorian town of Pitlochry. Continuing we stop to view the Forth Bridges before reaching Edinburgh.
