Tour Description

Discover Scotland's largest metropolis on this day tour from Edinburgh to Glasgow. Within only an hour from the capital we reach Glasgow for a half day guided city tour.

We first stop for a visit of Glasgow Cathedral. In the middle ages Glasgow began as a religious community, with city walls and a Bishop's Palace. All that remains from the citadel is the cathedral and a town house (Provand's Lordship) dating to 1471. Dominating the backdrop is the Necropolis, a large Victorian cemetery on a hill. Your guide will take you on a guided walking tour of the gothic cathedral.

On the panoramic tour you will see the highlights of the city. Glasgow Green on the east end and it's People's Palace and the largest terracotta fountain in the world with Queen Victoria standing on the top. Then onto George Square in city centre. Here in the heart of the Glasgow is the stunning architecture of the City Chambers built in 1888. The same year Glasgow was named the Second City of the Empire.

Continuing to the West End and the Waterfront. Glasgow University was founded in 1451 but moved to it's current location in the 19th century. It is the second oldest in Scotland and neo-gothic in design. Moving onto the River Clyde, the backbone of the city, at one time it was the world's leading ship builders. Now transformed into the Scottish Executive Conference Centre.

Alternatively we can add-in a stop at Clydeside Distillery for a tour and whisky tasting. If you are interested please let us know when you enquire.

The route of the tour may vary. Each of our guides will show you the city through their own eyes.
