Tour Description:

Stirling Castle Tour from EdinburghStirling Castle/Loch Lomond and Glengoyne Distillery

This tour is the Scottish experience 'distilled'. It will give you a taste of three classic Scottish ingredients . castles, lochs and whisky. Because we aren't venturing too far afield, it is the perfect trip for those who don't want to hurry, but want to really savour the rich flavours of this beautiful country.

Stirling Castle Tour from EdinburghAs you drive north-east out of Edinburgh you can marvel at the engineering feat that are The Kelpies, two 30-metre-high horse-head sculptures. Then, as you are travelling through Stirlingshire, our guide will bring to life the turbulent times of William Wallace - dramatised in the film Braveheart - and explain his link to the countryside you're passing through. We'll stop at the beautiful city of Stirling for about two hours. This gives you ample time to explore the stunning castle* or stroll through the beautiful and ancient streets that surround it.

Stirling Castle Tour from EdinburghOur route then takes you over the Duke's Pass where you will experience dramatic views of the Trossachs National Park and its Lochs, home of the Highland rogue Rob Roy. We then make our way to Aberfoyle, a small holiday village at the southern edge of the West Highland Fault and the heart of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, for lunch. Finishing off our time in Loch Lomond, we visit the beautiful loch side village of Balmaha where you can take a short but steep hike up to Craigie Fort to enjoy stunning views of the loch, or enjoy the bonnie banks on flat ground.

Stirling Castle Tour from Edinburgh Our final stop is one of Scotland's prettiest distilleries, Glengoyne*. Here you can learn the process of how they create the perfect dram, and you can taste a couple too! If you aren't interested in whisky you can walk to the nearby Dumgoyne Hill and take in the stunning waterfall and tranquil secret glen that sits behind the distillery.

Castles, lochs and whisky,
