RABBIE'S MULTI-DAY TOUR FAQ'S
When you make a booking on any of our multi-day tours, we
will book your accommodation for the night(s) you are on the tour. Your
driver will take you to your booked accommodation and collect you in the
morning whilst you are on your holiday.
1. How much luggage can we carry on the tours?
We ask that you keep the luggage that you carry on the tours to 1 medium
suitcase in stowed luggage and 1 piece of hand luggage because space is
limited. Our definition of medium suitcase is intended as a guideline.
However, as an approximate guide, a typical medium suitcase would be
approximately 62 x 43 x 27 cm. Don't worry if your suitcase is slightly
bigger than this.
2. Can we leave our extra luggage with you?
Afraid not... there's just about enough space in the office for the
staff! There are left luggage facilities at Waverley Train Station (2
minutes walk away), but if you are returning to Edinburgh your
accommodation provider normally will be happy to keep your luggage for
your return.
3. Does the tour price include accommodation?
No, but this gives you the freedom to choose your budget and the type of
accommodation that you wish to stay in and we will book it for you -
Hostel, B&B or hotel. Please refer to below or our booking page for
guides to the cost of accommodation.
4. How is accommodation arranged on overnight tours?
You tell us what kind of accommodation you would like. We book it. Your
driver/guide takes you there and drops you off on the tour, and in the
morning he or she picks you up from your accommodation. You pay direct
to your accommodation host.
5. What facilities are provided by youth hostels?
Fresh bed linen is provided, so no need to bring a sleeping bag. All you
need to bring is your own towel for showering. Hostels generally have
very well equipped self-catering kitchens for all your cooking
requirements. Cookers, microwaves, fridges and all the pots and pans you
will need.
6. What is meant by ensuite?
The bath/shower and toilet room is within the bedroom.
7. Will I be told about my accommodation details before my
departure?
Your driver will have the details of your accommodation, and will drop
you off there at night and pick you up in the morning. You can find out
where you will be staying by phoning our booking office prior to
departure or by dropping in to our office at 207 High St, Royal Mile.

From years of experience we know who offers the best Highland
hospitality, providing clean, good quality value for money
accommodation. We check the properties that we use are up to the high
standards we expect, and ensure their location is suitable for your
maximum enjoyment whilst on tour. We also ask our suppliers for their
environmental credentials to make sure that they meet the standards we
expect.
We do not include the cost of the accommodation in the tour price,
allowing you to choose your budget and accommodation type. You pay the
cost of your accommodation directly to your host whilst on tour, thereby
directly supporting local communities and reducing any negative impacts
tourism can have on the communities you are visiting.
At the time of booking we ask what type of accommodation you would like
whilst on tour. The choices are as follows: Hostel, B&B standard, B&B
en/suite and Hotel (3 or 4 star).
What you can expect from a Hostel
A hostel consists of dormitory rooms (bedrooms) normally between 4 to 8
beds in each dorm, but can be up to 12 or 16 beds in the bigger hostels.
The beds are typically bunk beds and all the bedding is provided by the
hostel. Towels are not provided, however you can hire towels from the
hostel for a small charge. The bathroom and showering facilities are a
short distance from the dorm room. Kitchen facilities are available for
all guests, which are well equipped for making your own meals. Shops are
close by so you can purchase food. This type of accommodation is ideal
for those on a budget. You do not have to be a member to stay in the
hostels as many of them are independent. The cost of a hostel is between
£11 - £16 per night. Breakfast is NOT included or provided.
Room types in Hostels
There is the option to be in a mixed dorm (males and females in one
room) or a single sex dorm (men only or women only); if you have a
preference please let us know at the time of booking.
What you can expect from a B&B
Standard and en/suite, also known as a Guest House
A B&B is usually a traditional family home that has been converted. The
most common types of rooms available in B&Bs are doubles or twins.
Family rooms one double bed and one single bed (suitable for 3 adults)
are also available in many B&Bs and there are single rooms, however,
single rooms often come at a supplement. You will find a hospitality
tray with tea and coffee making facilities and a TV in the room. All bed
linen and towels are provided. Breakfast is provided in the morning and
is included in the price. Vegetarian options are available on request.
B&B Standard (only a few rooms of this type)
The toilet and showering facilities are outside the room, normally close
to the bedroom and are often shared with 1 or 2 other rooms in the
house.
The cost of a B&B standard is between £25 30 per person per night.
B&B En/suite (most common type of accommodation)
The showering and toilet facilities are within the bedroom for your own
private use. The cost of a B&B en/suite is between £28 40 per person
per night.
Please note: Due to a shortage of single rooms, there may be a
supplement often we have to book double rooms for single occupancy.
Rooms in Oban, Portree and Inverness which have a superior view may be
subject to a supplement.
What you can expect from a Hotel
A Hotel is a larger property, offering the same room types as B&B
en/suite. Some hotels have a bar or restaurant for the use of their
guests and normally provide evening meals. All bedding and linen are
provided. Breakfast is provided in the morning and is included in the
price.
The cost of Hotel 3* is between £45 65 per person per night. Hotel 4*
is £70 - £100 per person per night.
Room types available in B&Bs or Hotels:
Double room 1 double bed = sleeps 2 people
Twin room 2 single beds = sleeps 2 people
Single room 1 single bed = sleeps 1 person
Family room 1 double bed and 1 single bed = sleeps 3 people
Price is dependent on availability and time of year. The further in
advance you book your tour the more likely you are to get your first
choice of accommodation. If you have any dietary requirements or
allergies that might affect you on tour, please let us know at the time
of booking.
