Tour Description

In addition to our Islay tour we are offering the opportunity to add-on another day to visit 2 whisky Islands; Islay and Jura.

Below is a suggested itinerary for a 4 day tour...

Day 1: Departing from Edinburgh or Glasgow we begin our journey to the West Highlands. After we take a scenic drive to Loch Awe with views of Kilchurn Castle. A lunch break at Oban. Then a chance to explore the ancient standing stones in Kilmartin Glen. From the Kintyre Peninsula we board the ferry to arrive on Islay in the evening.

Day 2: Today we focus on the whisky distilleries of Islay. There will be a limited of 2 distillery tours plus lunch or a shop at another. We would recommended the Warehouse tasting at Lagavulin and malting floor of Laphroaig. But alternatively we can also customize a tour with visits to Bruichladdich, Kilchoman, Bunnahabhain or Caol Ila.

Day 3: In the morning we head to Port Askaig to take the crossing over the Sound of Islay. The distance between the 2 islands is only 1 mile long, the duration only 5 minutes. Here we will have a chance to visit Jura Distillery. After you have the option of taking in the scenery and a few sights of either Island. Or head back to Islay to visit another distillery.

Day 3:  In the morning we head towards the port to catch the ferry back to the mainland. We head to the white washed town of Inverary. Here you have the option to visit the fairy tale like Inverary Castle. We then continue our journey past the amazing mountainous area named Rest and Be Thankful. The last stop is at the famous waters of Loch Lomond. Returning for about 6 or 7pm
