Tour Description

This private tour is a great introduction to Scotland. It includes history, culture, and iconic landscapes of the Scottish Countryside. Your personal guide will welcome you as a friend and tell you the stories and facts that you need to know when coming to Scotland. This be-spoke tour can be customised to your preference. Below is our suggested itinerary.

In the morning your private guide will pick you up at your hotel and begin our day discovering Scotland's Central Belt. At Stirling you will enjoy a personal tour of the castle from our Blue Badge Qualified Guide. Set on the natural border of the Highlands and Lowlands Stirling Castle has been the centre point for many famous battles. From the castle esplanade there is a great view of the William Wallace Monument, Scotland's greatest hero. During the renaissance times Stirling Castle became a favourite hangout for Scottish Royalty. After touring the exterior of the castle your guide will take you to the Chapel Royal, Great Hall and the recently refurbished Royal Palace.

Next we begin our scenic tour full of lochs, glens and mountains. The Trossachs are often call 'Scotland in Miniature'. The area has been a favourite retreat for artists and writers since the 1800s because of its breathtaking scenery. It was also the territory of Clan Magregor and its notorious outlaw hero, Rob Roy. Our drive will take us past Loch Venachar, Loch Achray, up the Duke's Pass to Aberfoyle where we will stop for lunch. Along the way there will be a few opportunities to stop and take some great photos.

We then will make our way to the Bonnie Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond. An area mesmerised in music and sought out by photographers and painters. It is the largest body fresh water in Britain. It is dominated by the large mountain of Ben Lomond and contains a number of islands. Here you will have some time to walk the shores, either at Balmaha or Balloch. On a customisable tour we can plan for a 1 hour cruise of the loch.

Optionally we can also include a stop at Glengoyne Distillery. A picturesque whisky distillery sitting on the edge of the highlands. The visit to the distillery will include a tasting at last about 1 hour in total.
