Tour Description

Enjoy a short private tour to the Isle of Arran from Edinburgh or Glasgow. Often called Scotland in Miniature it has a romantic hilly landscape and rugged coastline. This overnight to will visit the main attractions on the island.

Below is a suggested itinerary for a 2 day tour...

Day 1: Departing from Edinburgh or Glasgow we make our way to the ferry port of Ardrossan. Upon arriving to Arran we begin our drive north through the mountainous landscape of Corrie and Sannox Glen. An area that once thrived with Illicit Whisky Distillers. We then visit Arran Distillery and sample the Scotland's Spirit.

We the visit the ruins of Lochranza Castle, dating back to the 13th century. Throughout it's history it has seen some very important visitors such as the Viking King Haakon and Robert the Bruce.

Continuing we drive the north coast with great views across to the Kintyre Penisula. Finally reaching Blackwaterfoot which has been a holiday spot since Victorian times.

Day 2: In the morning we head to Machrie Moor Standing Stones. An ancient ritual centre during the prehistoric Bronze Age. It is about a 1 hour walk into total from the car park and back.

We then drive the String Road across the island. Towering above is Goatfell Mountain standing at 2,866ft (873.5m) high. It is a very popular place for hiking.

We then visit Brodick Castle, seat of the Dukes of Hamilton from 1503 to 1895. In 1844 architect James Gillespie Graham was commissioned to build this quintessential Victorian Highland estate.

After you will then have time to shop at Arran Aromatics and Cheese Shop. Before boarding the ferry we can then spend some time in the town of Brodick or Lamlash with views of the Holy Isle. Upon arriving on the mainland we then head back to Glasgow or Edinburgh arriving in the evening
