Tour Description

Discover the Isle of Skye on this short break private tour from Inverness. This is an extended and more relaxed version of our one day tour. This tour can be customized to your request, below is a suggested 2 day Skye tour...

Day 1  From Inverness we drive along the shores of Loch Ness, home of Nessie. Passing through the Five Sisters of Kintail we reach Eilean Donan Castle. This castle has a turbulent history involving the Mackenzies and the Jacobites. It was eventually rebuilt in the 20th century by Lt. Col. John MacRae-Gilstrap and dedicated to the men of the MacRae clan. This is now one of the most photographed castles in Scotland.

After we then cross the Skye Bridge to reach the Misty Isle. We stop at the picturesque Sligachan Bridge. This is the entry point to the Cuillin Mountains and the hotel is a popular overnight stay for climbers.

We then continue our drive to Northern Skye to visit the Trotternish Penisula. Here you have the option to visit Skye Museum of Island Life; an open air museum of 18th century stone houses. Nearby is Kilmuir, the burial place of Flora Macdonald. Ending the day with a scenic drive of photo stops at Quiraing, Kilt Rock and Old Man of Storr.

Overnight will be in the harbour town of Portree (depending on availability).

Day 2  In the morning we can then visit Dunvegan Castle, home to the Macleods of the Macleods. It is the most continuously lived in castle in Scotland. A fairytale castle with stories of Chieftains, Faeries and 700 years of history.

Then you have the option to visit Talisker Whisky Distillery to sample the spirit of Scotland.

We then head towards Kyleakin for a photo opportunity of the breathtaking bridge to Skye. Here we get fabulous views over Loch Alsh and of the graceful bridge linking the island to the mainland. On the drive back to Inverness we stop at the historic town of Beauly.
